As part of the Order of the Arrow's rollout of the new Induction process, all lodges are required to document key components and milestones of the process, as outlined below, in OA LodgeMaster (OALM). The information at each step that will be required is:

  • Step 1 - See One: See On One requires the lodges core team of induction facilitators (ceremonialist, luminaries, advisors/relevant support staff) to first go through the new induction. Documentation for Step 1: See One requires the following data points to be entered for each induction core team member:
    • The name of the individual.
    • The role they are aligned to play (ceremonials, luminary, or relevant adviser / support staff).
    • The Induction Experience (National, Section, or Lodge) they attended.
    • This step is completed in the New Induction Rollout Manager.
  • Step 2 - Do One: Do one One requires the lodge facilitate an induction experience, using their core team trained in Step 1, for existing members of the Order of the Arrow. In most cases, this is their own lodge through a Lodge Induction Experience (LIE). Select Exemplar Lodges will complete their step two requirements by facilitating a Section Induction Experience (SIE). The purpose of the "Do One" step is build lodge capacity and capability to offer the new induction. This step should be repeated to help as many existing lodge members as possible experience the new induction.
    • This step is logged using the Events tool in OALM.
  • Step 3 - Offer One: The final step of the process is to then offer the first new induction for new members of the order Order of the arrowArrow. This would be the first batch of newly elected members who experience the induction to accept membership into the Order of the Arrow rather than the Ordeal weekend currently in place.
    • This step is completed using the Events tool in OALM.

Induction Experience events are added using OALM's existing Event Manager functionality. A full guide to the Event Manager is available here

As part of the OALM updates to support the new induction, boxes have been added to the event details screen.

To schedule the event, create an event using the steps listed in the Event Manger guide. When creating an event where existing members are going through the new induction, select the Member Experience check box.

Note: Scheduling an event is what trigger the OA National Office to ship the lodge's complimentary induction materials kit. Any delay in posting your event in OALM will delay your lodge kit shipment.

Event Attendance

It is critical that all lodge members who attended the event, especially as participants of the new induction are logged on the Event Roster. Details on managing event attendance can be found in the guide here. This ensures accurate reporting of the number of members who have experienced the new induction.

Step Three - Offer One Reporting

Once Step Two is complete, the lodge will need to schedule and complete at least one new induction with newly elected members. The event is scheduled using the Event Manager in the same manner explained above. However, when the event is created, the user must select the Induction with Candidates box to indicate that this is a live induction. Note: an event can serve both. For example, if a lodge will have a crew for existing members are part of a new member induction, both boxes should be checked.

Once an event is scheduled with a future date the Phase Three - Offer One status will automatically advance to 2 - Future Event
